"If you can spell you can play....SCRUBLE Cube!

What if you took some of the known playing patterns of some of the most popular word games and puzzles in history and combined them in a brand new, unique format to create the World’s Greatest 3-D Word Game?Well, you’d have the “SCRUBLE Cube™ a patent pending game with over 7.4 x 1045(that’s 7,401 septillion)possible configurations that anyone who can spell can play. And all in a portable format that can be played anywhere- anytime The SCRUBLE Cube™ is a word game and a puzzle- on steroids!"

When our cool box arrived we immediately tore into the box and were ready to play.  When you get yours be sure to note that the instruction are not visible right away.  We had to look for ours a bit.  You must look between the box and the inner shiny lining.  It was time to play!

OBJECT

In SCRUBLE Cube™, players form words on the cube using letter pegs of
different values. The letter pegs rotate to allow for easier pattern recognition.
In SCRUBLE Cube, words can begin and end anywhere on the cube and
are formed in a single line. Words may be formed around the cube surface
using adjacent letters so that more than one cube surface is part of the word
formed. The SCRUBLE Cube game contains premium pegs for added word
and letter point scoring. Diagonal words are not permitted.

It took us a little while to figure out the instructions.  But, once we got the general idea we were off.  SCRUBLE Cube really is a fun little game that you can take anywhere.  Your object is to spell words, much like scrabble, to earn points, with the ability to earn 2X Word Score and 3X Letter Score.  My children, of course, were spelling words right away.  I had a little more of a time trying to see the words at first.  I enjoy a good challenge here and there!  You have to really think about the positioning and where you want your tiles/pegs to move.  It's important to play with the Cube and see where the letters are positioned in relation to the others.  This is where the logical thinking skills kick in.  It is a wonderful way to get the brain firing on all cylinders, challenge your thinking, and think outside of the box to get longer and longer words.

The way that we have used it, mostly, is we leave it where the boys can pick it up whenever they are ready to play. They study the cube for a moment to try and see a word pattern and then make a word as fast as they can, then they tally up their score.  It's a great way to challenge themselves to get better every time.

Scruble Cube offers FREE Downloadables on their Educators page: Lesson Plans and Activities .  Their lessons enhance math, language, logic, spelling and/or science.  My favorite, right off the bat, was the "Periodic Table Scruble Fun".  The object of the game is the teacher calls out the element and the student finds the elements Symbol on the cube.  Fun!

Now, I must say that before we received our package, a couple of the mom's that had already received their product said that when a little one got a hold of the cube or they dropped the cube it broke into pieces.  So we were sure to take extra care not to be rough with it.  The instructions also state that if the cube sticks, and it does, don't force it, just turn another direction or line up the pegs more.

For those who like crosswords, Scrabble, word challenge games you will thoroughly enjoy the Scruble Cube.

You can purchase your own Scruble Cube for $24.95 HERE.  It is also available at Barnes and Noble and Toys 'R Us.
